National Fishing your Plastic National Program advances in the coasts of Aragua

In the framework of the World Beaches Day, the National Fishing your Plastic Program carried out a cleaning day in the coasts of Aragua state with the active participation of more than 100 fishermen and fisherwomen, who are members of the National Council of Fishermen, Fisherwomen, Fish Farmers and Aquaculturists (CONPPA) of the state.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the State Government, Civil Protection, PNB, INEA, GNB – Vigilancia and INPARQUES, and focused on the collection of solid waste at various strategic points in the area, including beaches, coasts and mangroves.

The fishermen and fisherwomen, committed to the conservation of marine ecosystems, were deployed at key points such as La Boca, Cata, El Playón, Playa Los Cocos, Cuyagua, La Ciénaga and Catica, where they carried out an exhaustive waste collection effort, both on the surface and underwater.

The Pesca tu Plástico National Program contributes to the cleanliness of our seas, rivers and lakes, encourages the sustainable development of fishing communities and promotes the circular economy by generating additional income through the collection and recycling of plastic waste.

With this day, a large amount of plastic was collected, an action that reaffirms the commitment of our fishing people and the Bolivarian Government with the protection and conservation of our ecosystems, in order to guarantee a more sustainable future.
